About the book - May these lines remind you that sometimes, a single verse can hold an ocean of feeling.

The verses in Thoughts Unwound flow from moments deeply felt and thoughts quietly pondered. Some arise from live experiences; others from a mind wandering far and wide.

At its heart, this book holds an emotional voice—stirred by compassion for those on the margins, the everyday wonders of creation, and the timeless shades of love and longing.

The sea I sail owes its calm to the perseverance my mother instilled in me. Many of these poems are humble tributes to her loving memory.

May these lines remind you that sometimes, a single verse can hold an ocean of feeling.

Cheers!

About the author -

Born in 1959 in the humble surroundings of Chembur—then a robust suburb of erstwhile Bombay, still finding its feet in the decades after independence—Francis Fernandes grew up away from the bustle that now defines the city.

He was enrolled at Our Lady of Perpetual Succour High School, Chembur, an institution run by Redemptorist Fathers of both Indian and Irish descent. This school has seen many remarkable personalities pass through its threshold, and Francis counts himself fortunate to be among them.

He attributes his love for English literature to the wonderful teachers who laid a strong foundation and, above all, to his late mother—whose constant encouragement helped him decipher the English language to an enviable extent.

An emotionally charged mind and serene surroundings, he believes, are the perfect ingredients for a writer’s craft. Deeply immersed in every word he pens, Francis’s eyes often moisten with an uninterrupted flow of feeling—best understood through his prose and poetry that sway gently from works of fiction to rhyming diction.
